The MEDA Internship Program offers career-related work experience to students and other interested individuals. The internship program provides individuals with professional experience required by most employers and assists them in the development of key skills that will be beneficial for their future careers. MEDA internships give the students hands-on experience in professional fields. Every intern will be assigned a mentor who will work with the intern to assess individual goals and performance through out the internship. Each intern will complete a pre, mid, and post assessment designed to determine skills they would like to develop, progress being made, and overall performance and professional growth. MEDA internships are non-paid, however, upon successful completion of the internship MEDA will provide interns with a certificate of appreciation and reference letter upon request.
The internship program serves to:
-
Provide practical work experience to balance the students' theoretical training.
-
Assist students in identifying and acquiring the skills needed to enter a chosen field.
-
Allow students to meet and learn from professionals in the field and develop a network of contacts.
-
Reinforce and strengthen the interns’ personal values and career objectives through an improved understanding of themselves and the work environment.
Internship types:
Long Term Internship: The MEDA long-term Internship provides interns with experience in the areas of media industry in a period of nine months/ one year (or it might be for longer period according to special agreement). The Potential Internship Programs with MEDA are: Audio (Basic and Advanced), Scriptwriting, Production, Graphics and 3D Animation, Single Basic Camera, Editing/Avid and Directing. Interns might be asked to do some work for MEDA for a specific period of time or in a project related to their training, assisting with specific tasks and other duties as needed according to what mentioned in the internship contract.
Short Term Internships: The MEDA short-term Internship provides interns with experience in one of the areas of media industry in a period of one month, three months, or six months. Short-term interns may apply to join one of MEDA’s potential Internship Programs that are mentioned above, to get experience in one or more areas of training. Short-term Interns also might be asked to fulfill specific tasks according to their internship contract with MEDA.
Internship Contract:
Each Intern will sign an internship contract with MEDA. This contract comprises an agreement on the details that determine the rights and the duties of each part (such as the amount of fee the trainee should pay, how will it be paid, will the trainee work on a part time basis instead of paying in money terms, will he have a full scholarship for any training program (including the internship) he attends, what will be the evaluation system… etc.)
The acceptance of the intern will be based upon MEDA’s approval along with the trainer's approval. Required fees depend on several factors (the course itself, the trainer’s cost/hr., and studio expenses if it involves the studio, the intern’s financial ability and other factors) and are to be determined by MEDA.
Application Process:
Each applicant has to fill out an internship application and to attach it with his/her CV and personal 4x6 cm photo.
Applications could be sent by mail/fax; email; or handed in personally to the admission office of MEDA at least 3 months before the intended date of the requested internship program.
The candidate will be requested to pass an interview and assessment session to determine his/her level of expertise, commitment, contribution and other.
Scholarships:
Occasionally, MEDA dedicates a fund for the internship program to be used for supporting part of the costs for selected candidates. The scholarships committee studies the requests of the candidates and freely chooses some of those who meet and fulfill most of the criteria set by MEDA to grant such a scholarship. The decision is based upon studying each case separately and analyzing the whole situation to make sure we place the fund in the right place. The idea is to create a chance for someone who might not have the means to learn but has a talent and a vision, to have it and make use of it in achieving his/her vision. You may ask for the scholarship application by contacting the admission office: application@medaegypt.com
