In 2003, Arascope began
to expand its media training activities, and
established the Media Education &
Development Academy (MEDA), as a separate
entity, has its own governance and budget, in
order to meet the increasing needs for professionally
trained staff in the field of audio-visual media.
MEDA subsequently developed into a full-fledged
Academy with three major training units in the
fields of Audio Engineering, Video production
and 3D Animation.
The fact that the majority of the trainees of
the various programs have been able to find
relevant work in their fields is a testament
to MEDA's capacity to respond to the needs of
the community.
MEDA Courses
MEDA has developed its own competency-based
training courses, following the international
criteria for such training institutes. Today
MEDA offers continues training courses in three
different formats; short intensive courses (one
week), Long Courses (10 weeks), and tailored
training courses upon requests.
MEDA Facilities
In the last two years, MEDA completed construction
of new facilities to further strengthen its
provision of media education and training, and
the production of the trainees broadcast quality
projects. The new facilities include a fully
equipped video production unit (cameras, lighting
equipment & non-linear editing suites),
audio production unit (using Arascope’s
studios and audio suites), and the 3D animation
unit. MEDA also established its own library
that includes many media resources and references,
and created its hands-on training lab that helps
the trainees to practice what they learn on
their assigned workstations.
Starting in
1989, MEDA has conducted more than 250 training
workshops in a variety of media fields.
Since 1989, more than 3000 people have participated
in the training, both locally as well as in some
Arab countries that MEDA received a special invitation
to conduct some workshops, such as Lebanon and
Dubai.
